Law360: Lawmakers Question Legality of Library of Congress Moves

Rod Berman, partner and chair of the intellectual property group, was recently quoted in the Law360 article, “Lawmakers Question Legality of Library of Congress Moves.” The article looks the Trump administration’s removal of the head of the U.S. Copyright Office and the implications for the agency’s independence.

Berman told Law360, “”I was shocked,” saying he does not recall seeing this much tumult at the government agency in more than 40 years of practice.

He added “The job that the register does is very, very complex, and it’s not a job that someone could be inserted into without having any extremely detailed experience of copyright law,” he said. “They can’t learn it in a week. That’s why, to my knowledge, when the administration changes, they don’t change the copyright register.”
